Emily Maitlis

Award-winning journalist and broadcaster Emily Maitlis joined Global in 2022, where she co-presents the groundbreaking daily podcast The News Agents, known for intelligent analysis and expert opinion. In her previous role at the BBC, having covered elections in the US and UK , she then fronted Newsnight, becoming a stalwart of the broadcaster’s news output and a trusted voice with the viewing public.

She has interviewed presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, and each of the past six UK prime ministers, among numerous other political leaders, as well as key figures from the world of culture and international affairs. She also spoke exclusively to Prince Andrew, as the royal talked publicly for the first time about his links to Jeffrey Epstein. 

The James MacTaggart Memorial Lecture she delivered at the 2022 Edinburgh TV Festival covered the complex world of modern journalism, exploring the threat to reporting the news and holding power to account across the globe.

Maitlis is also the author of the Sunday Times bestseller Airhead: An Exploration of the Imperfect Art of Making News, and has written for The Sunday Times, The Spectator, The Guardian, Evening Standard, and The New Statesman
