Abdi Latif Dahir
East Africa Correspondent, The New York Times

The East Africa correspondent of The New York Times, Abdi Latif Dahir covers over a dozen countries for the newspaper and writes about everything from elections to armed conflict, terrorism to business, arts, and culture.
Prior to joining The New York Times in 2019, he was a reporter with Quartz, based both in New York and Nairobi, where he also produced projects on entrepreneurship, technology, and China’s deepening influence in Africa. Before this, he was a reporter with United Press International covering East Africa, a Dag Hammarskjöld Fund for Journalists fellow in New York, and a freelance journalist for Kenyan, regional, and international publications.
