Alia Ibrahim
Co-founder and CEO, Daraj Media
Alia Ibrahim is the co-founder and CEO of Daraj Media, the Beirut-based independent investigative outlet known for fearless reporting on corruption, power, and accountability across the Arab world. Since its launch in 2017, Daraj has become a defining voice in regional public-interest journalism – telling the stories that those in power would rather bury, and doing so under conditions of political pressure, surveillance, economic collapse, and war.
Prior to founding Daraj, Ibrahim was a senior correspondent at Al Arabiya, where she covered the Arab Spring and other major regional events, and contributed to The Washington Post and Al-Hayat. She began her career at The Daily Star in Beirut, where she later became managing editor.
Beyond Daraj, Ibrahim works across the region on coalition building and sustainability for independent media – focused on how truth-telling journalism survives, and matters, in some of the world’s most difficult environments.
