Leonid Volkov
Political Director, Navalny Team and Survivor of Russian Assault
Leonid Volkov was the campaign manager for Alexey Navalny’s 2013 mayoral campaign in Moscow and 2017-2018 attempt to run for president of Russia. Working closely with Navalny since 2011 as his chief of staff, Volkov oversaw the Navalny team’s political operations, both inside and outside Russia.
In 2019 he was forced to leave Russia. There are 11 politically motivated charges brought against him by Putin’s regime, including an official terrorist designation. In March 2024, shortly after Navalny was murdered in a Russian prison, Volkov was attacked with a hammer in front of his house in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius.
