Marianna Spring
Disinformation and Social Media Correspondent, BBC

Award-winning journalist Marianna Spring is the BBC’s first disinformation and social media correspondent. She joined the BBC in 2018. Spring presents podcasts and documentaries investigating disinformation and social media, alongside wider reporting commitments. She has reported and led investigations for BBC Radio 4 podcasts, and for Panorama, and she presents the BBC’s Americast podcast. In 2023, she was part of the team that won the Royal Television Society (RTS) Innovation Awards for the BBC’s Undercover Voters initiative, and was shortlisted for the RTS Young Talent of the Year Award. Her first book, Among the Trolls, Notes from the Disinformation Wars, will be published this year.
As a BBC reporter, she has previously covered breaking news geared at a younger audience. She also covered the general election and makes frequent appearances on BBC TV segments, including presenting on Panorama about her investigation into antivaccine content. She was featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list 2021 in the Marketing and Media (Europe) category.
