In just four years and on a limited budget, his team’s work has led to major legislation, enforcement decisions, lawsuits, appointments, and more. It has been profiled in The New York Times and kicked off national news cycles. It is helping return a culture of accountability to America’s most opaque state government, which spends $250 billion annually – a greater expenditure than that of more than 90% of countries – but has fewer and fewer journalists dedicated to covering it.
