Jose Zamora
Son of jailed El Periódico founder José Rubén Zamora
Focused on promoting collaborative networks, innovation, and freedom of the press, Jose Zamora is chief communications and impact officer at Exile Content Studio. The company creates premium film, television, audio, and digital content featuring the experiences and voices of diverse Spanish-speaking communities for over 550 million Spanish-speakers worldwide. He also serves on the boards of the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism CUNY Foundation, the International Center for Journalists, Ripple Effect Images, and Florida International University’s Kopenhaver Center.
He previously worked as senior vice president of Univision News, where his remit included securing funding to launch newsroom innovation projects and managing crisis communications. Prior to this, he managed Knight Foundation’s Knight News Challenge initiative and journalism programme, helping to develop over 100 grants to advance media innovation and freedom of the press.
He has a law degree from Universidad Francisco Marroquín, a specialisation in media law from the University of Oxford’s Media Law Advocates Programme, and a Masters in public affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.
