Walter Isaacson

Walter Isaacson has written biographies of Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, Steve Jobs, Leonardo da Vinci, Jennifer Doudna, and Elon Musk. His latest book is The Greatest Sentence Ever Written, which celebrates the United States Declaration of Independence and details how Thomas Jefferson, Franklin, and John Adams wrote the sentence that begins, “We hold these truths…”

From 1973 to 1977, he worked for The Sunday Times under the editorship of Sir Harry Evans. He has been the editor of Time, the CEO of CNN, and the CEO of the Aspen Institute. In 2023, he was awarded the National Humanities Medal. He is a professor of history at Tulane University.
