Journalist and commentator Jon Sopel currently hosts the multi-award-winning podcast The News Agents with Emily Maitlis and Lewis Goodall.
Before that he was the BBC’s North America editor, during which time he wrote a trilogy of books about Trump’s America. He has also served as the Paris correspondent and the corporation’s chief political correspondent. His new book, Strangeland: How Britain Stopped Making Sense, focuses on returning to the UK after his eight years in the US. Sopel also writes a regular column for The Independent on US politics. He is a pro-chancellor of the University of Southampton and an ambassador for Hospice UK.
